Camp runs Monday to Friday during multiple weeks in July and August.

Yes! Youth 13 years and older can participate as volunteers. Volunteers help mentor younger participants, assist with activities, and support camp staff. This is a great opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. Volunteers typically join for the full camp day from 8:45 AM to 4:00 PM, with the option for extended supervision until 5:00 PM if needed. Training and guidance are provided, and volunteers are included in all activities to gain hands-on experience.
Adults 18 and older who volunteer are required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check through the Edmonton Police Service, which will be provided at no cost to the volunteer.
-
Camp locations vary each year based on space availability.
The exact address will be provided on the current year’s flyer and confirmed during registration. If there are any changes, we will notify parents through email, social media, and updates on our website.

Africentric Arts Summer Camp is designed to be accessible and affordable for families.
We offer early bird discounts for selected weeks, additional savings for multiple children or multiple weeks, and flexible payment options, including payment plans during registration.
Our goal is to make it possible for every child to benefit from a fun, safe, and enriching camp experience.
-
We do our best to support children with special needs and make camp activities as accessible as possible.
We can provide wheelchair accessibility, one-on-one support, or other accommodations where feasible.
To help us plan effectively, please inform us at registration about any needs your child may have. This ensures our staff and volunteers can prepare and provide the best possible experience.
Please note that, as a small volunteer-run camp, some accommodations may be limited, and certain activities may not be suitable for all children.
-
Parents are responsible for daily pickup and drop-off of their children.
For families in Edmonton and surrounding areas, we can offer optional pickup and drop-off for $10 per child, with pickup locations shared in advance.
Please note that this service is limited and subject to availability, and we may not be able to accommodate all requests. We recommend planning transportation ahead of time to ensure your child arrives and leaves safely.
-
Camp ends each day at 3:00 PM, and parents are expected to pick up their child by 3:15 PM.
Children who have pre-arranged pickup will be taken to the agreed location at the scheduled time. Only authorized individuals listed on the registration form may pick up a child.
Children can be supervised at the camp location until 5:00 PM for an additional fee of $20 per hour. Late pickups after 3:30 PM will incur a $1 per minute late fee. Please note that no regular programming occurs outside of camp hours.
-
Snacks are provided in the morning and afternoon. We make every effort to offer gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free options.
All food must be nut-free to ensure the safety of all campers. Children with allergies should bring their EpiPen or any necessary medication and inform camp staff at drop-off.
Parents are encouraged to pack extra snacks or a larger lunch if needed, especially for children with larger appetites. Children will never be forced to eat, and picky eaters are welcome to bring their favorite foods. Our goal is for every camper to feel safe, comfortable, and nourished.
-
Each day, children should wear comfortable clothing suitable for arts, movement, and outdoor activities. Please ensure they bring:
Water bottle to stay hydrated
Snacks or packed lunch (nut-free if possible, and include EpiPen or medications for allergies)
Weather-appropriate clothing, including jackets or layers for cooler days
Close-toed outdoor shoes for safety during active games and outdoor adventures
Hats and sunscreen for sun protection
Bug spray for reapplication during the day
2. We also encourage children to bring a positive attitude, curiosity, and readiness to participate. All items should be clearly labeled with your child’s name.
Optional items:
Small backpack to carry personal items
Extra set of clothes in case of messy activities
Rain gear for outdoor play on wet days
-
A Lost and Found box will be available at the camp for any misplaced items.
We encourage parents and children to label all belongings clearly. Ultimately, each child is responsible for their personal items, so please check the Lost and Found regularly and remind your child to keep track of their things.
-
Our staff and volunteers are trained to support and supervise all participants and we make every effort to maintain a safe and positive environment. While we strive for the highest standards of care, challenges may arise.
If a concern occurs including behavior, safety, or health-related matters staff will respond promptly and appropriately. Parents will be contacted immediately if the situation requires their attention.
For issues that cannot be fully resolved on-site we have a formal escalation process. Parents may contact the camp coordinator directly at 780 716 9386 or email at africentricarts@gmail.com for further support or resolution.
This approach ensures we are transparent about our practices, proactive in supervision, and committed to the well-being of every participant.
